Energy Miser® Ceiling System

PART 1.00 - GENERAL
1.01 DESCRIPTION
-
Work Included
Building insulation required includes, but is not necessarily limited to:
-
Faced insulation plus optional back-fill insulation installed below the
building roof, between and beneath purlins or joists;
-
Faced insulation plus optional back-fill insulation installed inside the
building between and inside the wall girts.
1.02 - PRODUCT HANDLING
-
Protection
-
Deliver all materials to the job site and store in a safe dry place with all
labels intact and legible until installation.
-
Use all means necessary to protect building insulation materials before, during
and after installation and to protect the installed work and material of all
other trades.
-
Use all means necessary to protect floor of building from damage by scaffolding
or lifts.
-
Replacements
-
In the event of damage by Contractor, immediately make all repairs and
replacements necessary to the approval of, and at no additional cost to the
Owner.

In the event of damage by parties other than Contractor immediately advise
Owner of any additional cost to repair or replace damaged product.
PART 2.00 - PRODUCTS 2.0 BUILDING INSULATION

General
-
Insulation shall be Energy Miser Insulated Ceiling and Wall System for
buildings.
-
All required installation hardware shall be provided as a part of both roof and
wall insulation system.
-
The system shall have an installed U-Value of
based on average winter/summer testing conditions, insulation system shall be
certified as tested in accordance with ASTM C236.

Roof
-
Insulation for the ceiling shall meet the property requirements of Federal
Specification HH-1-558C:

The first insulation layer shall be Faced Metal Building Insulation having an
R-Value of
and faced with
The composite product shall have a 25 flame spread rating and a 50 smoke
developed rating as tested in accordance with ASTM E84. Facing shall have a
perm rating of 0.02 (minimum) as tested in accordance with ASTM E96.

The optional second insulation layer shall be Unfaced Insulation having an
R-value of
unfaced, with a 25 flame spread rating and a 50 smoke developed rating as
tested in accordance with ASTM E84.

Attaching hardware for roof insulation shall include:
-
Galvanized lockseam roller tubes 72 in. long for attachment to the purlins for
the purpose of supporting the Faced Insulation.
-
Galvanized connectors for making end to end connection inside the roller tubes.
-
Support clips, for support of roller tubes.
-
Bushing for the ends of each span of tubes.
-
Termination bar shall be supplied and shall be of extruded aluminum with baked
on white enamel paint for installation at all points where the Faced Insulation
will be screwed to the structure.

Walls
-
Insulation for the walls shall meet the property requirements of Federal
Specification HH-1-558C.

Roller Tube, Connector, Clip, and Bushing assembly at eave of building to
facilitate continuous Faced Insulation from roof to wall.

Self Drilling Metal Building Tek Screws with 1 1/4" plastic washer for
fastening wall insulation at girts.
PART 3.00 - EXECUTION 3.01 GENERAL

Inspection
-
Prior to all work of this section, carefully inspect installed work of other
trades and verify that such work is complete to the point where installation of
the Energy Miser Insulated Ceiling and Wall may properly commence.

Verify that the Energy Miser Insulated Ceiling and Wall System may be installed
in accordance with project drawings and manufacturer's recommendations.
-
Note number and location of structural elements that may pose special
installation problems such as ductwork, heater vents, skylights, windows and
doors.
3.02 ROOF INSULATION
-
General
-
Install Roof insulation in accordance with The Energy Miser Insulated Ceiling
System Installation Instructions.
-
All facing seams shall be sealed by folding over the facing and stapling a
minimum of every 4" to ensure an integral vapor barrier. Any fabrication cuts
or patches in facing shall also be stapled.
-
Pull faced insulation tightly and screw securely at eaves to minimize wrinkles
and allow no more than 6" of sag between roller tubes spaced 10-12 feet apart.

Place back-fill insulation optional pieces on top of faced insulation.
3.03 WALL INSULATION

General
-
Install wall insulation in accordance with the Energy Miser Insulated Ceiling
and Wall System Installation Instructions.
-
Install screws in every girt every 12" horizontally.
-
If wall is subject to abuse, install a protective wainscot over, or in place of
Faced Insulation Layer.
INSPECTION
Upon completion of the installation, visually inspect the work and verify that
it has been correctly installed. If knee braces were removed or loosened to
facilitate installation, make sure these are properly reinstalled.
